SEC filingFortuna Mining Corp. entered an earn-in agreement with Qstone Inc. to acquire up to 70% interest in the 29,600-hectare Quartzstone gold project in Guyana by funding exploration and a feasibility study.
Fortuna Mining Corp. has strategically expanded into the prospective Guyana Shield via an earn-in agreement for the Quartzstone Project, a 29,600-hectare land package in a greenstone belt with proven high-grade gold mineralization. Historical drilling from 2010-2017 (183 holes, 23,190 meters) delineated multiple near-surface zones along a 5-km corridor of a 26-km shear, with standout intercepts like 89.90 g/t Au over 1.0m within 27.78 g/t over 5.6m in DQS-016 and 101.58 g/t over 1.0m in DQS-088. Only a fraction of the shear and cross-structures have been tested, offering significant upside. The staged earn-in provides low initial risk: a US$5 million cash premium secures optionality, with 51% earned via 60,000m drilling over 4 years (funding all costs), forming a JV, and 70% via sole-funded feasibility study. An immediate US$5.5 million program targets infill work, geophysics, and 5,000m drilling to validate and expand targets. CEO Jorge Ganoza highlighted the region's gold discovery history and project's potential in a prolific camp near G Mining’s Oko West. Risks include execution of exploration, verification of historical data (confirmed by QP Paul Weedon), and royalties, but the structure aligns with Fortuna's portfolio growth in precious metals.
